OXO Rapid Brewer Recipe

The OXO Rapid Brewer is OXO's take on the Clever idea: a flat-bottom dripper with a shut-off valve in the base so coffee steeps in full immersion, then drains through a flat paper filter when you press a lever or set it on the carafe. The flat bed and immersion steep make it very repeatable and friendly to anyone who finds free-pour intimidating. ⏱️

#Pour Schedule

  1. Setup β€” Seat and rinse a flat paper filter with the valve closed; add 22 g coffee, level the bed.
  2. 0:00 β€” Pour 45 g (cumulative 45 g) and stir to wet all grounds; bloom 30 s.
  3. 0:30 β€” Pour to 350 g (cumulative 350 g); one gentle stir.
  4. 0:30-3:30 β€” Steep undisturbed.
  5. ~3:30 β€” Open the valve / set on the carafe to drain (~45-60 s).

#Why It Works

Like the Clever, the OXO is an immersion brewer that finishes through paper, so it combines a full, sweet, even extraction with a clean cup and almost no technique requirement. The flat bottom keeps the bed level as it drains, which helps even extraction versus a steep cone. Your two main levers are steep time (longer for body and sweetness) and grind (finer for more extraction); the pour itself barely matters, which is the point.

OXO also sells a fully automatic pour-over machine β€” this note covers the manual immersion dripper. The bloom step is optional and the steep time is approximate; many users simply add all the water, steep four minutes, and drain. Compare with the Clever Dripper Official Recipe to see how close the two designs are.
