Best IPAs by Region - Rest of World
The IPA is now a genuinely global style. Beyond the United States and Europe, vibrant scenes have grown across the Southern Hemisphere and Asia β some of them now shaping world flavor trends rather than just following them. This note maps those regions.
The "rest of world" matters to every IPA drinker because some of the most important modern Hops are grown here. Picks follow How These Were Selected; the scene is younger and less documented, so this list is necessarily partial.

Australia and New Zealand are the heavyweights here. New Zealand's unique hop varieties β Nelson Sauvin foremost β give NZ IPAs an unmistakable white-wine and gooseberry character, while Australia's Galaxy is one of the most prized aroma hops on earth. Both feature in Hop Terroir and Hop Growing Regions. Canada has a mature, US-influenced scene split by region. Latin America and Asia are the fastest-growing frontiers, generally favoring juicy modern styles and reflecting the ongoing Globalization of IPA.
Australia and New Zealand harvest hops in MarchβApril, the opposite of the Northern Hemisphere autumn. For Northern drinkers, an IPA built on fresh Southern hops can arrive at a different point in the freshness cycle β see IPA Freshness and Shelf Life.
New Zealand and Australia began as places that imported the American IPA. Through their hops, they now export flavor trends back to the rest of the world β a clear sign of Modern IPA Diversification.
