In one paragraph

So, what is product management?

Product management is the discipline of being accountable for whether a product succeeds, not for shipping features, but for the outcomes they produce. The job lives where user value, business viability, usability, and feasibility meet, and the real work is judgment under uncertainty: deciding which problems are worth solving and rallying a team to solve them. I organize that ability into four areas and twelve competencies, Product Execution, Customer Insight, Product Strategy, and Influencing People, that escalate from APM to CPO. This Atlas maps all of it, including how AI is rewriting the craft.
